The official invitation from the City of Fenton:

Memorial Dedication

The City of Fenton Fire Department will be having an official dedication of our new 9/11 memorial site.  The site is located on the South lawn of the fire station located at 205 E Caroline St, Fenton MI 48430.  The official dedication will happen at 1:30 pm on Sunday September 11, 2016.  This date marks the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The newly constructed memorial site features three different designs aspects.  One for each of the three locations that suffered losses on 9/11/01.  The World trade Centers of New York, the Pentagon in Washington DC, and the field in Shansksville Pennsylvania.

Our memorial will also feature a piece of steel from the World Trade Centers that was given to our department by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The public and press is invited to attend our dedication ceremony.  We will have local leaders and clergy speaking at the ceremony.

Should you have any questions please feel free to call me at the number listed below.

The project began unknowingly on September 11, 2015 in just saying thanks to our local firemen for what they do. Fenton Memorials donated an stone with an etching of the Fire Department logo on it. On that day, Chief Cairnduff said something like: You know, we have a piece of steel here from the Twin Towers that we just don’t know how to display. The donation of this small thank-you stone led to the 9/11 Memorial at the Fenton Fire Department.
